There is something about marble countertops that no other material can replicate. The natural veining, the cool surface, the way light plays across a polished Carrara slab. At Empire Custom Countertops, we fabricate and install marble countertops for homeowners throughout the greater Buffalo area.
Popular Marble Types for Buffalo Homes
Carrara Marble
The most popular marble for residential use. Soft white background with gray veining. Elegant without being overpowering. Typically $60-$80 per square foot installed in the Buffalo market.
Calacatta Marble
The luxury choice. Brighter white background with bold, dramatic veining in gold and gray. Rarer and more expensive at $80-$120 per square foot installed. But the visual impact is unmatched.
Statuario Marble
A beautiful middle ground. Bright white base with striking gray veining more prominent than Carrara but more subtle than Calacatta.
Marble in the Kitchen vs Bathroom
Kitchen: Marble requires sealing every 6-12 months. Acidic liquids can etch the surface. It develops a patina over time. If you want zero worry, quartz is a better choice. But if you love the look, nothing compares.
Bathroom: This is where marble truly shines. Less food prep exposure means lower maintenance. A marble vanity top with an undermount sink creates a spa-like atmosphere. See our bathroom countertops guide.
